Whether you’re looking for an adrenaline rush or a sophisticated highway cruise, the 2019 Honda Civic delivers. What’s new for 2019? Two words: a lot. But the first thing you’ll probably notice is the Civic’s restyled front bumper, which adds to its chiseled new look. Inside, the infotainment interface now includes a volume knob and old-school buttons, so you can skip the touchscreen interface when you’re zooming through traffic. And, this year, drivers who choose the Sport trim can select sedan or coupe body styles.
Why buy the 2019 Honda Civic?
So many options: The 2019 Honda Civic is all about options. This new model is available as a hatchback, sedan, or coupe, so there’s a body style for every kind of driver. The four-door sedan has major family appeal, and the hatchback speaks to a sporty sense of style.
Tire-burning performance: Besides body style and trim level, the 2019 Honda Civic offers a range of sporty engine options. Driving enthusiasts will appreciate the Type R and Civic Si, but even the Civic EX’s turbocharged engine has plenty of pep.
Crazy-good fuel economy: If tire-burning speed isn’t really your thing, you can always choose a 2019 Civic that saves you plenty of money at the pump. With the turbocharged 1.5-liter engine, this peppy Honda earns up to 32 city and 42 highway miles per gallon.
Standard safety: Every single 2019 Honda Civic is loaded with high-tech safety gear to help keep you out of trouble. If danger is near, the automatic emergency braking and road departure mitigation features can actively help you avoid it.
Which 2019 Honda Civic should I buy?
It might be better to ask yourself what you want out of your Honda Civic. From there, you can choose the trim model that’s your perfect daily driver.
There’s no need to spend a lot on a 2019 Honda Civic, because this entry-level model is fully loaded. Standard comforts include automatic climate control and an adjustable driver seat. Standard conveniences include a rearview camera and wireless Bluetooth connectivity. There’s even a USB port to keep your favorite device charged up.
Looking for a little extra flair at hardly any extra cost? The Sport dresses up your ride with 18-inch alloy wheels and a center-outlet dual exhaust. Inside, this Civic gets a little more luxurious with its leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob. The extra infotainment gear gives you another really good reason to upgrade to the Sport. This trim and higher include Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, smartphone capabilities that project apps onto the 7-inch touchscreen. Dual USB ports keep a couple of devices charged simultaneously.
If you’re looking at coupe or sedan models, upgrading to the EX puts a little more zest in your ride with the turbocharged 1.5-liter engine. (It comes standard in the Civic hatchbacks, so you don’t have to worry about upgrading those.) The EX expands your horizons with its sunroof and LaneWatch blind-spot camera, giving you both a safer and more scenic drive. There are also a few comfort features to write home about, namely, heated front seats and power-adjustable driver’s seat.
Civic EX-L & EX-L with Navigation
Looking for a little more luxury? The EX-L is all about that with rich leather upholstery and a power-adjustable passenger seat to match the driver’s version. For Civic hatchback models, there’s the EX-L with Navigation, which adds a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob and—you guessed it—navigation.
Civic Touring & Sport Touring
These two trims add to the EX-L’s creature comforts with some on-road practicalities and even a little extra luxury. For example, in the Touring and Sport Touring, both the front and rear seats are heated for an extra cozy winter ride. Daily convenience gets a boost with LED headlights and automatic wipers. Driving enthusiasts will appreciate the paddle shifters, which let you downshift on demand.
This performance-based Civic is all about action. Under the hood, you’ll find a turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine that spits out 205 horses and 192 pound-feet of torque. The Si’s six-speed manual transmission gives you that classic driving experience, and its sport-tuned suspension with adaptive dampers turns up the heat.
Civic Type R
The Type R is beast of the Civic lineup. Its turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine blazes past the other models with 306 horses and 285 pound-feet of torque. It’s also only available with a six-speed manual transmission for the sportiest possible performance. But the Type R also includes automatic rev-matching for silky smooth downshifts. And the performance gear doesn’t stop there. The Type R is all about speed, with its 20-inch wheels, high-performance tires, and bigger brakes. Though the first thing you’ll notice about this Civic is its massive rear wing.
